  • Not All Gamers Are Antisocial, Lazy, or Nerdy

If there is one thing I have heard over and over again, it is that gamers are lazy, nerdy or just very irresponsible. As a person who plays games quite often, I would disagree with this statement. When someone thinks of a gamer, they are just assuming that everyone is gaining weight, being unhealthy, having too much screen time. First of all, people are horrible in believing everything they hear with no proof, they will assume what they hear to be true or read some news article and think of the worst possibility possible for gamers like myself.

One thing people say all the time is that gamers including myself are antisocial and because we “play video games all day” we don’t interact with people or have a hard time communicating outside of the game. Although I consider hanging out with friends in person to be fun and in some cases better than gaming, do people spending time with friends or talking to people while playing the game doesn’t count as a social life? A prime example is Pewdiepie a very famous person who plays lots of video games but also is famous for hitting 100 million subscribers on Youtube.

Most older adults won’t clown on him because hes making money and doing it for a living but is he not doing the same thing? People will always make fun of people because they can but people will just assume that if you aren’t getting money from it or getting successful then you deemed as a couch potato, lazy and always lectured.

If you are one of those people that typically clown on gaming or think all video games are bad, I would highly recommend this article. This article has a lot to say about it’s positives and reaching a deeper level of why video games are not completely bad for you. My highlight from this article is not only it talking about how it can enhance your problem solving skills and it being a stress relief, but it agrees that you can create friendships and have more of a social belonging if you aren’t as social.

In this video, it shows a prime example of how gaming can create the best world of friends in an online space. I can very much so relate to this. I have known these very nice people online for about 6+ years and just last year we finally met up and this is what it felt like. When we first met up, the experience was unreal and it really felt like a moment of brotherhood shared. Friendships really can be made in an online space and for the people always clowning on video games saying it’s a big waste of time, I would tell them, really do your research and spend time asking people about their experience because sometimes media won’t have 100 percent of the answer. Your best chance of finding an accurate answer is to go around asking your kids, people you know close to you for a more accurate response for the gaming and online community.

  • Moon Landing Conspiracy

The moon landing was one of America’s biggest accomplishments in the history of the world. We were up against the Russians and we happened to beat them. However, many people are talking about how we faked the moon landing to get there first. The moon landing was a big deal and all these conspiracy theories are going around that it was faked. This all started because people were slowly starting to see understand what was going on and they started seeing little flaws on the pictures and videos.

This all started during the Cold War and this was a space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Apollo 11 Mission took place on July 16th 1969 from the Kennedy Space center in Florida. The photo up above is a great indication for why people think the moon landing is fake and not a conspiracy at all. The main detail most people were pointing out is that there are no stars in the atmosphere. If you were in space I feel like they would have been able to capture stars and maybe other planets but you don’t see any of that. Granted on their part it could have been the camera angle they took that photo in but that’s just the first detail.

Another big issue we see here is that the American Flag is shown Waving on the moon. However this can’t be possible because there is no atmosphere on the moon for the flag to be waving like that.

The main persuasion tactic that was used was appeal to submission.

As I said before, in most of the pictures and videos, people noticed small details in the pictures that didn’t seem to add up. A prime example of this is shadows going in different directions.

In my opinion, I would say the issue is not yet resolved and there is no for sure answer that this was 100 percent faked. I don’t think the government will ever admit to it being fake or if any other by stander saw what happened admit it was faked. The general public knows about the moon landing and some people think that the landing was real but nowadays I here people talking about how the moon landing was fake so I think the general public is fixated on an answer but they are skeptical of if it really happened.

One interesting piece of evidence people didn’t see was this. It’s a old video of Neil Armstrong getting asked to swear on the bible that he really walked on the moon. I can understand he was a busy man and he got questions a lot but what I don’t understand even with all the rules in place saying he can’t talk about what’s fake and real and what really went down that day, why didn’t he take 10 seconds to swear on the bible that it was real? I think he made it very clear that it wasn’t a joke and that he wanted to know if he really went to the moon.

In my opinion, I believe the moon landing to be fake and I have a strong feeling that majority of the United States of America does too. What is the government trying to hide from us now?

  • 24 Hour Media Use Part 2

9:30AM: I woke up and went straight to Instagram. I watched memes videos and news channel vids to see what was happening in the world to get caught up if I missed anything. I have for sure upped my security game on here. I don’t like as many posts unless it’s a friends post I like that way it’s one less piece of data I am feeding to them. That way it’s harder for them to get more data out of me.

10:20am: I went to my computer to where I played some games like ready or not, dead by daylight, and a little Roblox. I am not aware if these games are recording what we are saying and sending it to companies of what we talk about but they for sure have access to my name, email, age, and maybe some social media.

12:00pm: Went on TikTok for a little and watched some videos. My for you page is really all over the place. Somedays it will be filled with funny videos, others will be filled with serious videos like news covers, or just boring things that I do not even care about. Scrolling on TikTok is the main way they get users data. There they can know your interests, dislikes, know your behavior data, know what politics you like, and know what social interests you like. All of this information feeds into their data so that way they guess what kind of videos you watch and will try and get those newer videos to try and get you to stay.

2:55pm I was told in a discord call with my friend and he all the sudden told me that Charlie Kirk got shot while he was giving a speech. At this moment social media is going crazy and that became the number one talk and post on social media and even if I wasn’t searching or wanting to look at videos on it, I still got it because I already searched it and they made it appear on my for you page more. They were for sure giving me videos that had to deal with my political interests as I kept getting videos on the college but also getting videos of people talking about the issue. Know one ever thinks about data while they scroll but I knew the data they were collecting was how much time I would spend on a video and then they would feed those newer videos depending on if I liked or stayed on videos for specific time.

10:55Pm I got home from work and was checking in with social media again and making sure if their were any updates on what was happening. I had liked a few videos and photos that people posted so this for sure pushed more videos on the situation to come my way.

11:30pm Wrapped up the day with watching some Netflix. I was in the mood for a movie so I watched, Were The Millers. Very Funny movie if you’ve never watched it before would highly suggest it.

My routine stays the same for the most part. I am trying not to spend majority of my day online but it’s hard when news stories come in and you want to learn more about what’s happening.

  • My 24 Hour Media Use

My typical day to day routine is almost the same thing everyday. I would say the only exceptions are when I don’t have to go into work then my daily routine gets a little interesting.

9:00am: I wake up and grab my phone to check emails, and watch a few Tiktok videos.

9:20am to 11:00am: Typically I will set aside this time to get any homework I can done on my computer. It could range from doing readings with the book, watching videos assigned, or even doing the classwork writing assignments. (I take like 3 breaks in this period).

11:30am: Headed to my couch to go on Instagram and Tiktok and watched my feed for about 45 minutes. Tiktok is more enjoyable if you’re laying down and you have a pillow and a blanket. I never really noticed how often I spend on social media until now. (Phone battery problems)

12:30pm: I went out to get my favorite food (chipotle) listening to my favorite artists on Spotify. They include The Weekend, (just saw him in concert in Atlanta), P-Lo, Drake, and Don Toliver.

1:15pm to 4:00pm: I played games with my buddies including Ready or Not, War Thunder, and finished with Split gate 2.

7:00pm: I watched a tv show called Dark. Basically a show about how this kid went missing but there is this whole time travel problem and people slowly start to figure it out and it gets intense. (my brain hurt watching)

The current image has no alternative text. The file name is: Screenshot-2025-08-28-100648.png

9:15pm: I went in my hot tub where I listened to my music playlist again and jammed out to my tunes. (I was by myself)

10:30pm to 12:30am: I finish my day playing some more games with my friends including Ready or Not and GTA 5. I can admit I do play games a little too much but I balance it out with my work life and going out. Playing games is fun with my people but I do get out and I do see the world!

The media I use including Instagram I would say is the my best credible source of information. I really only follow people I know, celebrities are the only exception for this. Instagram can be trustworthy if you follow the right accounts and not some (off brand) person. However Instagram has a lot of stories and news on their app and I would consider it to be my main credible news income source.
